  • Mayor Rich Smith Announced a Snow Emergency and City-Wide Parking Ban 6:00 AM Sunday, January 25- 6:00 AM Tuesday, January 27.

We are bracing for heavy snow beginning Sunday morning. Expected snowfall rates are up to 2”/hr into Sunday night, with accumulations of 12 to 16” accompanied by NE/NW winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph Sunday into Monday.

Please remove all vehicles from city streets during this period to allow our Public Works crews to clear our streets and ensure emergency personnel access.

Please clear your sidewalks, ensure that fire hydrants in your area are accessible, and please do not blow or shovel snow into the roads.

Additionally, due to the anticipated snowfall there will be no Monday collection pickup.

Monday collection will be picked up Tuesday.

To assist the plow crews, please do not put receptacles out at curbside until late Monday evening.

Tuesday collection will be picked up Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday collections are unchanged.

  • In recent days, if you are a homeowner, you’ve likely received a notice about the latest revaluation of your property.

For many people, the increase in home values is startling. Average increase as high as 40%.

I want to assure you that this increase in home value does not mean your local taxes will be going up by an equivalent percentage.

In the days and weeks ahead I will be working with the city assessor, our director of finance and others to put together a plan to address and manage these assessments.

Please be advised to not apply the current mill rate to your new assessment. The rate is subject to change in the upcoming budget cycle which does not formally get submitted until February of 2026.

A more detailed statement will be released and more details will be shared when I have accurate information available. Rest assured, I remain committed to keeping taxes low and will work tirelessly to that end.
